A video of a police dog performing CPR on his handler is gaining a lot of popularity on the internet. The reason? He sure is a super well trained dog who will try to do everything to save a human. We get to witness the dog’s skills after his handler simulates and lays down on the ground, pretending to go through cardiac arrest. The dog, Poncho, is released from the leash and immediately rushes to the officer, jumping up and down, perfectly replicating rhythms of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
As if this wasn’t cute enough, Poncho also makes sure to check for any breathing sound from his owner. With its tail wiggling at a fast speed, he lays his face on the man’s cheek, checking for a pulse, or any breathing sings that would indicate he is still alive. The officer later on awakens and the dog is super excited.
The video was shared by Municipal Police of Madrid with a very funny caption from Josh Billings, a 19th century humor writer. It stated:
“A dog is the only thing on Earth that loves you more than you love yourself”.
On a side note, let us remind ourselves that CPR can triple our chances of survival for everyone who experiences out-of-the-house cardiac arrests (which I am guessing constitutes the majority).
For more on preforming CPR, look at the informational video below. Though it no way compares to Poncho’s cuteness, a newly developed automated device ensures that patients on the way to the hospital are receiving uninterrupted chest compressions, which as stated before triples their chance of survival.
